day 134: I was super busy running around all day and took a ton of photos… but I can’t post them here (hence the top secretness) but I did manage to slip in one generic flower photo during the day that I can show you.
Month: July 2007
day 133 : wii is fun (and dangerous)
day 133: Some of our friends from college are in town visiting and we decided to play a little wii. All was going well… I was taking pictures, winning at bowling, the usual stuff. Then we decided to play tennis… and that’s when things got ugly…
Yes… the loser who flails about while playing wii and knocks over fragile items is me. I hit a lamp, which hit the glass thermometer thing on the side table, which broke on the floor, spilling lots of oily water and glass shards. But at least I’m not the only one… wii have a problem has lots of similar (and entertaining) stories.
day 132 : so very busy
day 132: It seems like the last month has flown by. Every day I get caught by surprise when it’s past ten o’clock and I haven’t even posted (or sometimes taken) a photo. Today is one of those days and I’m sorry to say I had to take another last minute in the house shot. Tomorrow will be a take the camera out day for sure!
day 131 : no it’s not europe…
day 131: I have always gotten kind of a kick out of cheesy themed strip malls, my favorite being the venetian themed one in Houston. Tonight Ben and I went out for ice cream in Marina del Rey, where the cheesy themed strip mall is complete with fountains and hanging outdoor light strings. Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re quite pleasant to hang out in. Just funny. Quite funny.
day 130 : la vie en rose
day 13: Last night Ben and I went out to a movie and watched La Vie en Rose, the life story of Edith Piaf which we have been meaning to see for a LONG time! It was a great movie, but so sad that I couldn’t even recover from it enough to go out and take any photos… only this one, which is kind of how I felt… exhausted. So I went to bed.
this is just a test (unless it works)
I’ve been having a lot of fun editing the photos from the family reunion. I’ve gotten a lot of my favorites together in a slideshow that you can see hopefully by clicking the play button below (I hope… if all goes according to plan!) You can also click the slideshow link to see a larger version.

day 129 : breather
day 128 : rockets
day 128: One of the many family reunion traditions is that on the last day everyone drags themselves out of bed in the early morning and heads out to John’s field (remember, I said earlier that this was small town Kansas and I wasn’t kidding!) to set off model rockets with a truck battery. It’s probably something to do with growing up in a decidedly rocket-free neighborhood, but I’m always afraid that one’s going to run right into me. This year there were technical problems and only one managed to get off the ground before the launch setup was busted. Lucky for me.
day 127 : the root of it all
day 127: The coolest part of the family reunion every year is seeing how everyone (all fifty plus people) can be traced back as a family to Ben’s grandpa. He had 8 children (one of whom is Ben’s mom) who all had children of their own, and the family reunion has now extended to four generations of people, all brought together because of his grandpa. It’s pretty amazing. Here he is, the man himself! Eighty years old and looking fabulous!
