day 102: thanks a lot

day 102: Tuesday morning started out well – I planned on going for a jog with the kids in the stroller (I’ve been going 3 times a week and quite enjoying it) and then going back to the house for lunch. But when we got back to the car to put the stroller away I found this – a car parked not inches away from my bumper but TOUCHING the bumper. Needless to say there was no way to get the trunk open or the huge jogging stroller into the trunk while it was in this situation and there were no other open spots anywhere near the house (plus, hello, babies in stroller, where am I going to leave them?) so I had to lug the huge thing all the way up into the apartment and was grumpy the rest of the morning. Harrumph.

day 101: where did the week go?

day 101: I can’t believe it’s already Thursday night, almost Friday and I haven’t posted any of this week’s pictures yet. I actually don’t know what happened to this week, it went by so fast I didn’t have time to realize it was happening. I have been up late at night and doing lots of work, I suppose that’s part of the problem. A very late night and very dark shot by the glow of my monitor

day 100: shoot.. I forgot :(

day 100: as I was typing in the entry last night for day 99 I mentioned to Ben “hey today is day 99, that means tomorrow is day 100 and I have to remember to do something cool”. So of course I forgot. And the only pictures I took today were more macro shots for the contest. I actually don’t even like them much, I had (what I thought was) a neat idea to do a tipped over salt shaker with some salt crystals spilled on the wooden table. I encountered two problems – 1. we only have a salt shaker that is huge and ceramic and has two large holes, so it doesn’t really read as a salt shaker close up, it is kind of out of scale with the salt and looks, well, weird (boo) and 2. I waited too long to take the pictures so it wasn’t terribly bright in the room anymore by the time I got around to it and darkness is the nemesis of macro photography. When you’re shooting close up you had better make darn well sure that you either have a lightning fast shutter speed or a very steady hand (or tripod)… I wanted my lens right at the table level which meant tipping it down which mean NOT having it resting on the table entirely… and … well… I suppose I’m getting into too much detail. Needless to say it didn’t work how I had hoped. This was the backup idea Ben came up with, I guess the slow shutter speed pouring is *kind of* cool… but I’d have preferred if it were stop-action quick. Not gonna happen with the dim light. So here you go. My 100 day photo that has nothing to do with it having been the 100th day OR with what we did today in general. Harrumph.

day 98: uncle chris

day 98: this afternoon my brother came up to visit and got to spend some time with the kids. At first I wasn’t sure if Amelia was going to warm up (she can be a tough audience), but after only about 2 or 3 minutes she decided to climb in his lap. Paul was pretty much tackling him from the moment he walked in the room 🙂

day 95: I really need new shoes

day 95: seriously… take a look at this post from 2007. Yeah, same shoes. Granted I don’t use them all the time, mostly when I am wanting to use my fancy schmancy nike+ ipod thing. But really… that is still way way too often to still have the same pair. I think that is officially on my list of things I need to replace. And fast. I have restarted (hopefully to finish to completion this time) the couch to 5k program… this round I’m attempting it with babies in the double BOB… I must be nuts 🙂

day 94: aawwwww

day 94: I love this sweet little daddy son moment. Ok, so I cheated a little… Paul really was giving Ben a snuggle but by the time I got my camera he wasn’t anymore, so I asked if he could do it again… yeah, our babies “hug” on command, and by “hug” I mean squish their face into yours. It’s pretty sweet actually 🙂 Also kind of funny is the take n toss sippy cup full of smoothie in his hand – but hey, that makes it real life right? I love my boys.

I also think it’s CRAZY to compare it to this picture from November of ’08 … it doesn’t really seem like it’s possible that it’s the same baby. I guess he’s not really much of a baby anymore is he? Sniff, sniff.

day 93: happy easter

day 93: we had quite a busy Easter this year. A trip to the wild animal park in the morning and a family get together in the afternoon. The trip to the wild animal park left everyone pretty exhausted and the kids didn’t nap as long as I’d hoped they would, so they were a bit saucy when they woke up. We decided to take a walk in the wagon to perk everyone up. I also had hopes of getting pictures of them in their Easter outfits frolicking in the flower field… smelling the flowers and such. Unfortunately there were a few flaws in my plan. First off, the outfits I picked for them were way too big so they couldn’t really run around in them without worrying about tripping. Second the field that looked so pretty from the street actually had a lot of gopher holes and broken glass in it. So they had to stay in the wagon. Boo. Oh well. I attempted to make the most of it but I’m not thrilled with any of the pictures to be honest. Ben reminds me that the important thing is the day, not the pictures. I try to remember it but I still get frustrated when I think I’ve missed a potentially fabulous photo opportunity.
